A downtown beach.
Its border with Itaguá is the small Barra da Lagoa river. The attractions
of this beach are the activities on the Iperoig Avenue with its lively bars, icecream shops,
sophisticated restaurants and agitated fast food joints.
A meeting place of the youngsters. Intense nightlife during weekends when the avenue is closed for
cars so that the crowds can better enjoy the space.
It was on this beach that centuries ago Father José de Anchieta wrote his poem to the Virgin Mary
while prisoner of the Tupinambá indians.
From its left corner starts a narrow road to the Prainha do Matarazzo. |
