Praia Dura meaning "Hard
Beach", has a curious feature in that it shows a broad strip of sand that
dips very gently into the sea.
This means that if you want to have water around your waist, you must walk a lot
into the sea. Another feature is that its sands are slightly radioactive, a
circumstance that brings people with articular ailments and other hindrances to
its sands for their beneficial effects.
At its left corner the Rio Escuro (Dark River) meets the sea, a navigable river
with a complex biodiversity in its mangroves.
Towards the Serra do Mar range, a beautiful sight of the Corcovado Peak,
Ubatuba's highest point. There's a trail to its top that takes 8 hours to cover.
Do not try to go there alone, you may get lost, hire a local guide. |
